is also the first step in deescalation, which is crucial in these times, especially for those of us who are smaller, female, or older, vulnerable, or merely tired. Safety decreases for everyone in a hostile world, and lack of civility only benefits the bullies and those big enough to be constantly on guard to fight them off. Lack of civility makes the world more dangerous, even for large armed men, how much more so for the rest of us?
