The Answer: Hybrid Pedestrian Beacons, also known as signalized pedestrianbeacons or high intensity activated crosswalk (HAWK) beacons are used for mid-block crossings

@MontgomeryCountyMDDOT Does MDDOT mail information about these new lights, and other new stuff like signs and roundabouts, to licensed drivers as part of a continuing-education program?
@benlk Yes, our Vision Zero Pedestrian Safety Outreach Team provides tips and literature to drivers at all of their outreach events. Which include events at MVA Offices, Hawk Signal locations, the County Fair and other locations throughout the year. More information about their efforts can be found here https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/DOT-PedSafety/Resources/Files/2024-Ped-Safety-Outreach-Report.pdf
@MontgomeryCountyMDDOT Outreach event only hit the people who are civically engaged. Do you have a communications channel which targets _every licensed driver_?
