My whole life I have seen advertisements for desk jobs that required people to have driver's licenses, use of a vehicle, and insurance, even when there was no driving involved in the job at all.
Requiring a driver's license for employment is now prohibited in California if driving is not reasonably expected to be part of the job duties. This is a huge victory for people who use transit and cycling for their mobility.

@danwentzel
My job description says it requires a driver's license. In the first 5 years, I didn't drive to work, and I have since canceled my drivers license.
There's a remote site I need to visit, but there's a bus stop nearby.
I'm tempted to push the issue with HR when I'm at a point that I could change jobs (once youngest kid is done with college).
@danwentzel I once interviewed for a job in San Francisco and found out the vacancy was because the previous holder is the job lived in Marin County and refused to commute in his car and had to leave on time in order to catch the ferry. Just as glad they didn't offer the job, TBH, because it would've been tempting to take it and to comply with their "requirement" that I drive to work.
