I agree with this article. The American empire is over.
No nation will ever fully trust us militarily or economically ever again.
I'm sure preserving white male supremacy was worth it to you, MAGA.
Y'all say that, but Liberals like throwing out their neck and back and every other joint with any whipsaw change in the political picture that is slightly less bad than the worst.
"We can actually turn this shitburger around" before the shitburger is on their faces again. And this is entirely to insist that nobody fuck up the most delicate situation...
“Pick whichever rationale you want, because it doesn’t matter. Whatever the reason was, it exposed half of the electorate—the 77 million people who voted for Trump—as either fundamentally unserious, decadent, or weak.”
“And no empire can survive the degeneration of its people.”
@BohemianPeasant @danwentzel This was my favorite part of the article. The how and why America came to this point doesn't matter anymore. The country came to a crossroad at the end of 2024 and didn't even stop to think if it should change direction
@BohemianPeasant @danwentzel
Plus each vote for Trump exposed that many in America are bigoted, exploitative, sadistic, and either appalling at detecting narcissistic paranoid psychopathic eugenicists and realising that to Armageddonistic, fascistic, wealth-hoarding 'elites', even upper classes beneath them are slave-fodder or bone-meal, no matter how they vote, whether for or against. Such is the nature of those dark downward-spiraling traits unable to feel genuine empathic connection.
@danwentzel “no empire can survive the degeneration of its people” is some super fashy shit
@danwentzel how have 154 people on mastodon (at time of screaming into void) shared this article that so clearly relies on fascist logic to argue the fascist in chief is fascisting wrong?
@danwentzel Having been raised mostly in the south with 10 generations of southern roots, one must understand that MAGA doesn't understand nor do they care that most of the benefits they enjoy came as a result of our position on the world stage. For them, they want off the world stage saying "none of that is any of our business, we're great by ourselves."
Political, economical and military suicide performed by Trump, MAGA and the Republican Party who do not give a rat’s ass about their citizens and the relations with the world. It will not be forgotten.
@danwentzel and there’s STILL nearly 4 years in his second term.
@danwentzel it is a good article, great analysis.
Republican billionaires got what they paid for.
1. An end to taxation
2. Deregulation of pollution
3. Termination of investigations
4. Rampant public corruption
5. Bigotry on steroids
6. Slave labor
7. Civil rights rollbacks
8. Profiteering
9. Oligarchy
The article ignores the fact that Europe itself is in democratic decline. Marine Le Pen may be disqualified, but her party will continue, as will the AfD and other similar parties within Europe.
It is doubtful that the EU, with its fragmented people, can replace the US.
The claim to Anglo-Saxon exceptionalism when it comes to idiocracy is false, and the future is likely Chinese, not European.
@chowderman
The future is Chinese indeed. Word.
@danwentzel
And they "made bathrooms safe again"
Well THANK FUCKING HEAVENS for that!
@danwentzel you know you're sharing a Republican publication, right? One that "gets" transphobia. Please, people.
@danwentzel I don't know if it will be over, but I certainly hope no one will help usa with our war contracts. In fact, I hope our defense contractors will be blocked from waging wars by the rest of the world.
Economically? I hope it won't happen for too long. Just until all the fascists are scrubbed from America's power structure if nothing else.
There will be wars, lots of wars.
Without the (admittedly imperfect) policeman of the World, other powers will return to the historic norm of wars of empire.
Certainly Russia and China are preparing for further war making in their parts of the world, and the US seems set to make war on the North American continent.
@chowderman @danwentzel Yeah... but you know, with everything America is currently doing, I wouldn't be surprised if many world powers get in the usa's way of pointless middle east wars just out of spite. America deserves to be stopped when it is doing evil stuff. I don't care which country is doing evil, even if it is Israel, evil must be stopped. A Also, a country being persecuted and/or a persecuted race in the past doesn't mean they can persecute people of any county in the future.
Yes I am talking mainly about the genocide from Netanyahoo. He is a yahoo, I looked up definition and it means a brute or vicious character. How appropriate his name sounds that way.
It is a long time since the USA conducted any wars in the Middle East, a region almost entirely composed of cruel dictatorships.
Israel has the right to defend itself against brutal terrorists committing war crimes. That the leaders of Israel are indicted for war crimes whilst conducting that defence does not absolve Hamas of their guilt or remove Israel’s right to fight a war started against it.
What is regrettable is that, unlike the previous US administration, which rightfully supported Israel whilst attempting to moderate the worst excesses of its leadership, the current administration allows Netanyahu to continue a war that keeps him in power.
That you bandy about the libel of genocide, something unsupported by any judicial judgment or indictments says much about you (that an antisemite working for the UN also used that term does not excuse your racist hatred motivated misuse of the term).
@danwentzel I've said this before, but there are now three world powers: the EU, Russia, and China.
And the EU's certainly not perfect, but given the options I'm rooting for them to come out on top.
Russia isn’t a World power, it is a local thug with nukes. The EU isn’t a World power, it is a glorified trade association.
There is nothing at the moment that equals what the US was. The future is likely to be multipolar, and the US will be one of those poles, rather than the global hegemon it was before. I expect China to be first amongst equals.
Europe is going to rearm. And they are going to do so by building up their internal defense industries so that they do not have to rely on America, which is in the process of threatening military action against a NATO member.
@danwentzel Blaming "white male supremacy" is ingorant and plain stupid.
This has everyting to do with protectionism and isolationism.
This combined with badmouthing of allies creates bad times.
The American voter got what they voted for, an there is no "white male supremacy" in this.
Please stop.
@danwentzel
A relationship without trust is as much use as a dented ping-pong ball.
The US will never be trusted again - it's not just Trump, it's the 77 million who thought voting for him was a good idea.
The American Age Is Over
Emergency Triad: The United States commits imperial suicide.
»Whatever the reason was, it exposed half of the electorate—the 77 million people who voted for Trump—as either fundamentally unserious, decadent, or weak.
And no empire can survive the degeneration of its people.«
»The American age is over. And it ended because the American people were no longer worthy of it.«
> The American empire is over.
Isn't that a good thing?
We USAians have no business running an empire (for one thing we are incredibly stupid, eh?), we are a bunch of free people, there's no moral or ethical basis for empire. WWII left us in a much better place than Europe, but we never wanted an empire.
@danwentzel
Article "There are only three possible explanations as to why Americans voted for this man:
they wanted what he promised;
they didn’t believe what he promised; or
they didn’t understand what he promised."
I don't think we have to choose: all three in varying degrees and comibnations.
