Welcome to the Bizarro World of Transit!
Come with me to Wuppertal, #Germany, where you can ride a city bus to the Schwebebahn (suspension railway), which has been carrying passengers since 1901...
Then we'll go to the #Czech Republic (Czechia) for a ride on the tram-train (which is not the same as a train-tram)! A system that lets lightweight trains travel quickly between cities, but also operate on city streets like trams.
Then off to #Italy, for the Ascensore Castello d'Albertis—a combination of funicular and public elevator. It's an elevator that goes sideways. Molto Willy Wonka!
And I can't forget the Schweeb, in #Aotearoa (New Zealand). A human-powered pod-monorail!
You can read about these and more in my latest Straphanger dispatch. Like nothing else on Htrae!
