We just ordered a Ninja Creami, which is a knockoff of the Pacojet machine. We plan to make ice cream and sorbets. Does anyone have any tips for homemade vegan ice cream?

@unabogie You get creaminess* in ice cream from fat and/or sugar and unless you're using a lot of coconut cream most of the vegan base options won't be fatty enough so be prepared to either use a lot of sugar and/or weird additives (vegan creamer for coffee has enough additives to work ok).

*vs. iciness in texture

@SRLevine a lot of the recipes use cashews and/or the fatty part of a can of coconut milk. I've seen a few using avocados too.

@unabogie That fatty part of the can should be the same as coconut cream (I found it more efficient to just buy coconut cream, I was ending up with *a lot* of liquid coconut milk I had to figure out a use for otherwise, and I can only eat so much coconut rice).

Good luck with your adventures, ice cream making is a pretty rewarding hobby. Even if it's not great, it's still ice cream, which is all that matters when it gets super hot out.
