lamb 🐑
If there's something I've noticed about social media it's this:

Whenever someone has a post that pops off, they will promote their artwork or a charity or something they believe should have the eyes the original post is getting.

And then that promo will get 3 likes. Versus the 3,000+ likes of the original post. Despite being part of the same thread.

Especially if the promo is unrelated to the thing that caught people's eyes, people will either not see it or they literally will just not care. I get the impression they might even get offput by it.

I don't understand why people do this. As an artist, whenever I see another person's post do numbers and then see them plug their art I'm like "Wow nice art! I think I'll follow them!"

It sucks knowing that this kind of person is approximately 0.1% of the original post's audience.

I understand the stress of being unknown when you crave acknowledgement as an artist. This happened to me, it happens to virtually all other artists I see online.

When it happens to you, it makes you feel like your passion is a waste of not only your time but others' time too.

Example: Haus makes music and she makes a successful web comic called Haus of Decline. People love her comics and is well known in online trans communities.

She begs people to even give listening to her music a chance.

What the answer is to this, I don't know. A small amount is better than none at all, I suppose. You would just think it wouldn't be like this.

I appreciate it when some people make "If you're XYZ, post your work!" posts because that's a invitation for people to WANT to find new artists to find their artists. I suppose it's like being asked out on the streets vs. getting asked out on a dating app.

#indiedev #gamedev #art #music
