I assume that it was via mass reporting from rightwing nutjobs or fossil fools in particular because my posts were starting to garner quite a bit of attention.</p><p>I transitioned here and it was great, but it's been nice interacting with so many of my former mutuals and colleagues on <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/BlueSky" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueSky</span></a> so spend more time on there nowadays.</p>

I think people are nervous around the word propaganda or just touting Democrats</p>

And always will be as far as anyone knows. If you don't like it, you can improve it yourself or give developers more money to do so.</p><p>On <a href="https://liberal.city/tags/bluesky" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bluesky</span></a>, they got an attention boost from old Twitter and the current funding is VC cash. That model has always meant that a once great experience eventually includes advertising and otherwise degrades.</p><p>So please just judge them fairly, based not on what they are now but will be long-term.</p>

Nota do editor: Embora eu seja afeito ao Mastodon e aposte no ActivityPub há muito tempo (o primeiro post do assunto aqui saiu em 2019), eles estão longe de serem uma solução perfeita. Não concordo com todos os argumentos do Rob, o que não os invalida. Pelo contrário: alguns verbalizam incômodos subjetivos que tenho com o protocolo e outros foram revelações desconfortáveis, mas importantes. Espero que a tradução do textão dele nos ajude na eterna busca por melhorias. Estou desativando os robôs do Mastodon que usava para publicar os horários do nascer e pôr do Sol. O evento que precipitou isso foi que o administrador da instância que hospeda essas contas exigiu que elas se tornassem praticamente impossíveis de descobrir, mas o motivo subjacente é que ficou cada vez mais claro que o Mastodon não é, e nunca será, uma boa plataforma para “notificações efêmeras assíncronas de qualquer tipo”. Eu também argumentaria (de forma mais controversa) que simplesmente não é uma boa infraestrutura para redes sociais de qualquer tipo. Há muitas pessoas interessantes usando o Mastodon, e tenho certeza que ele continuará como um espaço satisfatório para certos nichos. Mas não há dúvida de que ele jamais oferecerá a diversão do Twitter em seus primórdios, muito menos a vivacidade do Twitter durante sua fase de crescimento. Já faz tempo que removi o Mastodon da minha tela inicial e migrei para o Bluesky para redes sociais focadas em texto. O Mastodon é uma instanciação de um padrão aberto chamado ActivityPub, que foi construído principalmente em reação ao ecossistema fechado do Facebook. Nos tempos áureos da década de 2010, havia muita indignação contra os monopólios digitais e muita gente de perfil técnico sonhava com uma maneira de compartilhar postagens (entre outras coisas; o ActivityPub contém formatos de dados para muito mais do que apenas texto e imagens) através de seu “grafo social” sem depender de uma única empresa. A hostilidade a qualquer “fonte de verdade” centralizada que pudesse ser apropriada ou cooptada por uma única empresa (a mesma hostilidade que motiva as criptomoedas) fez da “distribuição” um — talvez o — principal objetivo do projeto. O modelo de distribuição escolhido foi chamado de “federação”: o Mastodon consistiria em uma coleção de “instâncias” independentes que seriam livres para se “federarem” juntas para formar (potencialmente) um único grafo social universal. About 9.5 out of 10 are sex bots. I'm stupid enough to block them.<br>And: mostly broadcasting, communication is yet rare (well, I don't talk to sex bots).</p><p>Only good point for Bsky until now: It's better for <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/activism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>activism</span></a>, for the organisation as well as for real time insights in <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/protests" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>protests</span></a>.</p>
