Blind Willie McTell is one of those musical prodigies of music history. I had the record from back when Suzy Q Records was still a record store, and I never listened to it. The recordings are eerily bad; you can even hear traffic in the background at times. But one day I finally listened to it properly, worked my way through the interference, and then I couldn't stop listening to it. What magical songs, what complex songwriting... and even if it's overused, what punk lyrics. I covered “Dying Crapshooters Blues” on the “Desperation” LP. A tribute to a magician.

Moanin' and Stompin' Blues - John Lee Hooker, Paul Howard and Ralph Willis

The first disc in this imported two disc set contains the unmistakable heavy rhythmic industrial sound of John Lee Hooker.
The second disc contains a side each from Paul Howard and Ralph Willis, bluesmen I was less familiar with. From the Carolinas, theirs is a much more rural sound, but still wonderful blues.

Ruffy says - Solid work! Make sure to give the sax guy a raise! :3

My friend ZDL from Wuhan, China, sent me this review on Mastodon.

I quite like this. It's nice, light fare meaning I can have it as the background when I'm working, but if I pause and concentrate on it there are some very nice depths to it. Also the sax soloist is fire.

Listen here.

@zdl @Carl

I'll be recording Bebop Beatniks with Paul Lessard again the Saturday after Easter.

Also I am recording another band I'm calling #jazz #blues #fusion featuring some fine outstanding musicians from NE Arkansas.

My new project is Fly On The Wall Recording Sessions where I livestream recording sessions and chat with the audience between takes. Just at the setup and testing stage so far.

I'll let you know when the livestreams start.
