een greintjeOpposite corners of the art studio. I took these pictures with an Agfa Clack; seemingly a very popular box camera from the 1950s/1960s as they're easy to find. I found mine in my family's attic. 14missionWaiting room, San Jose Diridon station. I can't see anyone in this picture, but the station actually gets pretty busy--but commuters just go straight to the tracks. I should come back and get another version with some people in it. I had one shot left to use up on the way out of town. Everyone was in a hurry to get to the airport, and I had one block walk between the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SoundTransit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#SoundTransit</a> express bus stop and the light-rail/subway station to find something, so I took a picture of a hotdog stand with cool buildings in the background. It came out better than plenty of pictures I spent time carefully planning and setting up! Admittedly part of it is just making old technology work. For us <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BoxCamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#BoxCamera</a> fans, another part is just being able to get a good picture out of the simplest possible device, which takes some practice and skill. But the finiteness of film does something to your thinking. I know that every picture I take costs me about $3. So when I go somewhere I want to take pictures, I usually just want to take one, or *maybe* two. So I'm always looking for the essential shot that captures it. This makes you observant. And it's not just about getting "the" shot--it helps you appreciate all the cool stuff you see that you don't take a picture of while you're actually there.
