SamUpstate<p>Last night's <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/cocktail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cocktail</span></a> was a Vesper</p><p>3 oz gin<br>1 oz vodka<br>1/2 oz lillet blanc</p><p>I generally use a blend of London Dry and American gin (I do the same when making a dry martini). I also usually scale back the quantities (which is easier when making two), as the above recipe is quite a hefty drink.</p><p>According to the good folks at liquor.com, the vesper is the drink desired by James Bond when he orders his "martini, shaken not stirred."</p><p><a href="https://www.liquor.com/recipes/vesper/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">liquor.com/recipes/vesper/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>Some of the commentary in that post made me reflect on James Bond, caricature, and the way we think about masculinity, particularly in light of a few other articles I read this week on the topic. It's something I've wanted to explore further for a while now, so keep an eye out for a blog post in the coming week or two.</p>
