I live in the IL 9th district. I don't know anything about this person who is trying to unseat Schakowsky, other than she doesn't appear to live in the district. But I will say it is crazy that our district has only been represented by 3 people since 1949. It is also interesting from a hyper-local perspective since #Evanston mayor Dan Biss--up for reelection next week--has been eyeing Jan's seat for years. #Chicago thehill.com/homenews/campaign/

In 2022, Evanston, IL voted 82% yes to implement ranked choice voting. The office of the Cook County Clerk has refused to enact the people's will. Reform for Illinois is challenging them in court, and we've got their back.

More choices with ranked choice voting. That's the mandate from the people of Evanston.

Packed meeting to discuss Evanston bike lanes

This is the same article as every other article on proposed bike lanes. A city plans bike lanes, drivers complain, business owners complain, some bikers stand up in support; and eventually they'll probably put in some bike infrastructure of some sort, as long as it doesn't inconvenience drivers in any way.

"The merchants say the project, which would strip most parking off the east side of Chicago Avenue to make room for the bike lanes, would harm “nearly 200 small businesses which depend on street parking for customer access.”

Really glad to see the expansion of separated bike paths in Evanston. Unfortunately, some of the plan includes sharrows. I would love to see even more connections, increased traffic calming to get speeds below 20, and some neighborhoods or business districts without any automobile traffic. evanstonroundtable.com/2023/01
