Monitoring Protest Hashtags With VibesMasto
Can't go to the protests today but you still want to know what's going on? Check out this tool I made to monitor hashtags at the larger Mastodon instances and aggregate them into a browser tab that refreshes automatically. I set it up because I have a tiny instance and our news flow isn't great. You can use it too! You don't have to have a API key or even a Mastodon account.

There is no algorithm - your timeline is the #hashtags you follow, the people you follow, and the posts they boost. That means the quality of your feed is largely up to you. Follow interesting people and hashtags, and just as importantly unfollow/block early and often, and don't be shy about boosting in turn posts that are good.

Welcome and nice to have you on the good side of social media!
I‘m sure you’ll be very happy to see no advertising around here and only see interesting stuff in your timeline after you find your perfect #hashtags and profiles. Also use #newhere to have people find your profile and follow you! Good luck and have fun!
You can follow hashtags. #hashtags have helped me so much here.
Follow some #hashtags!
Free way to find new people to follow, I follow #pixelArt and #Retrogaming for a start.
Start a little narrow (pixel art not art) and broaden if it's not enough.
Halfway through the month reminder that, because of how Mastodon works, it is important to include at least 1 relevant topic #hashtag (but not too many!) in your posts.
This greatly helps to highlight your posts to people who are following #hashtags for particular topics of interest to them.
Otherwise, posts with no hashtags just go past in the fast flowing stream, and are often only seen by people who were actually scrolling through when you send your post…
@mllsc
People can make up any hashtags, so not really. As for what to use, just add them to keywords along the way as you're writing. For example you could've used #hashtags #literature #discuss Also you can probably find a relevant #Lemmy #Community
Tonight I have the privilege of guest hosting one of my favorite hashtag events. #ILikeToWatch is a weekly gathering of friends riffing along to good music. The hosts and music genres vary each week.
Tonight's playlist is headphone friendly. It has something for everyone. Hope you'll join us at 10pm ET.
Playlist to be posted. Stay tuned.
Breaking free from the mess, understanding the #hashtags bring clarity, a rejection of the confusion and stagnation that has kept us locked into #mainstreaming dogma. Decoding the Hashtags: A Roadmap for Social Change https://hamishcampbell.com/decoding-the-hashtags-a-roadmap-for-social-change/
Anwendungsbeispiele:
• "Ich nutze WERO" → Knopfdruck → QR-Code zum Bezahlen erscheint
• "Ich nutze Threema/Signal" → Knopfdruck → QR-Code zur Kontaktaufnahme erscheint
• Namensschilder mit wechselbaren Informationen
• Stimmungsanzeiger für nonverbale Kommunikation
Fragen an die #Fediverse-Community:
- Kennst Du ähnliche Projekte?
- Wer könnte so etwas umsetzen?
- Was sind realistische Kosten?
- Fallen Dir weitere Anwendungen ein?
- Welche #Hashtags sollte ich ergänzen oder ändern?

@_TroikaFox_ Ooh! We should put in a feature request that we should be able to define a filter that weeds out any posts with more than n hashtags.
I'd use it.
Pluviophile (n) A lover of rain; someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days.
This Saturday (April 12) I have the honor of guest hosting #ILikeToWatch on Mastodon.
I'll be featuring an hour of music, from different genres, for the pluviophile in all of us.
This weekly event is my favorite.
All are welcome. Especially you.
Here's an explainer why #groups (boost bots) are preferable to #hashtags for organizing a #group of people on #mastodon (or the #fediverse in general):

BTW: I've mentioned "a.gup.pe" (@guppegroups) in the text. Is anyone aware of alternatives that should be added?
