It doesn't look like much in this photo, but they stopped counting the protestors at 3,000 people (out of a population of 30,173 people in 2023).

This was in the very small town of #Algonquin #Illinois , about 48 miles northwest of #Chicago . Some of these people are probably also from neighboring #LakeInTheHills , which has a population of 28,661.

Both communities tend to have considerably more Republican voters than Democrats.

Even in the smallest of small-town America, protests were going strong.

Let's keep it up!

The #HandsOffProtests in #Chicago were actually much, MUCH larger than they looked on most news reports. Chicago protestors gathered at #DaleyPlaza , which was not remotely large enough for the April 5th #HandsOff crowds. So thousands of people took over the actual streets for at least ten blocks.

In most video clips, it looks much smaller, because the police kept them wrapped around several city blocks, and you never see the entire crowd in one image.

This news chopper video (no sound) gives the best idea of how many people came out to protest on Saturday in the Windy City. It follows the crowd around the long city blocks, and back to Daley Plaza downtown.

In all my years living in the Chicago suburbs, I have never seen protests this huge. Other protestors made similar observations on my local news.
