Building an Interferometer with LEGO.

LEGO! It’s a fun toy that is popular around the world. What you may not realize is that it’s also made to incredibly high standards. As it turns out, the humble building blocks are good enough to build a interferometer if you’re so inclined to want one. Kyra Cole shows us how it’s done.

Mastodon friends if they were still making #Lego Movie stuff and made a "The Lego ____ Movie" in the style of The Lego Batman movie, what would you want it to be about

This weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Protemnodon

In the early-mid 1800s, fossil remains of several different species were found in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. They were sent to English biologist Richard Owen.

In 1874, he would name a newly found kangaroo relative Protemnodon anak.

Protemnodon is thought to be physically similar to the far smaller Wallaby. But the largest ones grew almost to the size of Procoptodon, the giant short fact kangaroo.

It occurred to me it’s been 14 years since I last put these two characters together in a photograph. 14 years! How time flies.

The setup (or "setup" ... it’s a dead plant on a table) was there after I shot the golden spaceman a couple of days ago, so I figured why not give it a go. It was fun the last time, it was fun today.
