I always thought it slowly wobbled (there and back over each year). But no. I blame faulty middle-school teaching. </p><p>And in finding this out, I think that on the equinoxes, an observer standing on the equator would not see the sun rise due east and set due west. (I have not tested this hypothesis out, but it follows on from the above factoid. I think.)</p><p>Caveat: IANAA, corrections would be good if you have ‘em.</p>
