Microsoft employee disrupts 50th anniversary and calls AI boss ‘war profiteer’

theverge.com/news/643670/micro

TSYM, Ibtihal. This is news I’m hearing because of your action. Directly relevant to my decision whether to keep working with #Microsoft as well, so I will be watching closely to hear their response.

The comfort rank and file democrats feel in a genocide is toxic and tho they will automatically win some brownie points by not being the party of dumbass tariffs they are still losers at heart until they turn against genocide.

And again most of the reason is capitalism.

Dems can't stand up to this genocide now, its big business.

That's why comrads in Seattle are STILL crashing every event architects of the Gaza genocide create.

@HonkHase
Yeah, I have to admit, this doesn't come to me with any surprise.
#Microsoft has contracts with #military and military contractors, therefor it shouldn't be surprising, that any #tech in their #portfolio is open for sale, especially the dual-use ones. 😕

What surprised me in the last weeks, that #arabic family clans in #Gaza protested loud enough against Hamas, that (at least first) Al Jazeera ignored it, while international outlets seemed to pick it up.
But the #worst in my humble opinion that I didn't notice any loud response out of the other Arabic countries to support these protests, yet. I think this is equally irresponsible, as it looks like the definition of "collateral damage" the IDF takes into account on the behalf of the #israel government.

This whole #shitshow there is straining my tolerance for ambiguity to the max.

“Shame on you,” said Microsoft employee Ibtihal Aboussad, speaking directly to Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman. “You are a war profiteer. Stop using AI for genocide. Stop using AI for genocide in our region. You have blood on your hands. All of Microsoft has blood on its hands. How dare you all celebrate when Microsoft is killing children.”

So #Skype is shutting down and I get messages to that effect. I'm noticing there's no mention of giving me my money back. I've got $5 on their system, and while I haven't used it probably in six or seven years, I've kept the acct active because I don't want #Microsoft to have my money.

It's not much and won't bother me if it's lost, but it would bother me that Microsoft is just keeping these credit balances for themselves without permission. There should be a class action or deal with that.

Microsoft’s 50th anniversary celebrations tainted by the company’s role in the genocide in Gaza

Microsoft is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and in honour of this milestone, Bill Gates has published a blog post about the first code the company ever wrote.

In 1975, Paul Allen and I created Microsoft because we believed in our vision

Read the full text of #IbtihalAboussad's mail that she sent out after disrupting #Microsoft's 50th anniversary event, while AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman was speaking.

It gives a bit of insight how Microsoft's deal with #Israel makes their employees complicit in the #WarCrimes committed by in #Gaza.

»For the past year and a half, our Arab, Palestinian, and Muslim community at Microsoft has been silenced, intimidated, harassed, and doxxed, with impunity from Microsoft. Attempts at speaking up at best fell on deaf ears, and at worst, led to the firing of two employees for simply holding a vigil. There was simply no other way to make our voices heard.«

Look at the faces of the MS employees during her protest, they know what they're contributing to:

So sick of #microsoft Just wanted to grab a file from my OneDrive on my work system, but they had to authenticate it was me.

Off to the authenticator app.
Retrieve and Input the code.
“Welcome. You can now change your password.”
Didn’t ask to. No option to use my current (up to date) password.
Changing it would require changing it on 6 other systems (including consoles).

Just NO. Bugger off!

Moving everything off OneDrive to a different cloud and then I’m wiping it.
Had enough of their stupid unnecessary security shit when you just want to log in on a secure server with your secure password.
Already cancelled Office.

Installed Linux Mint on two systems so far, will do the others this week and keep one WinBlows system for dictation only.
