So, we're worth £20 and more profit to the private sector.

"GPs in England will be paid £20 each time they decide not to send a patient to hospital under a government scheme to help reduce the NHS waiting list.

Family doctors will be able to claim the money if they instead refer patients for tests and treatment in an out-of-hospital setting, such as a health clinic, or to see a community-based specialist"

The Guardian · GPs in England will be able to claim £20 for every time patient is not sent to hospitalBy Denis Campbell

Can expanding the 'Advice & Guidance' scheme, incentivising GPs to offer tests & treatments on site or locally rather than refer patients immediately to hospital offer a way to reduce waitng lists & improve patient experiences of the NHS?

My local surgery has just built extra (physical) capacity to offer expanded treatments/tests; other surgeries will be doing the same.

More investment in GP practices makes more sense than some other policies!

"MI5, the UK Security Service, has warned that Chinese organisations and individuals granted access to UK data can be ordered by Chinese intelligence agencies “to carry out work on their behalf”. But UK Biobank told the Guardian that the NHS unit responsible for health data had in recent weeks cleared it to grant Chinese researchers access to GP records."

The Guardian · Revealed: Chinese researchers can access half a million UK GP recordsBy Tom Burgis

Yesterday I spent 9 hours at Northampton A&E with an injured friend. Not ideal, as I’m supposed to be resting after recent surgery, but needs must. The staff were doing all they could, with kindness and dedication, but the department was completely overwhelmed.

This is what 14+ years of Tory rule and underfunding have done. It needs fixing, fast. There were people clearly very ill, sitting in a crowded waiting area. It felt like the kind of situation we used to call ' third world,' I’ve been there, I know.
We now have a Labour Government, but the Health Minister still seems far too close to private medical companies. That has to stop. Fixing A&E departments must be a top priority, no ifs, buts, or maybes.
No one should be left waiting that long. When politicians ask for your vote, ask them what they’re doing about the NHS. And remember, there are two parties who want to see it gone. Don’t fall for snake oil salesmen. Think carefully. #NHS #A&E #NorthamptonGeneralHospital

As Saffron Cordery (Interim CEO, NHS Providers) suggest in a letter to the Guardian:

'A healthy nation needs a healthy NHS workforce. To achieve this, the NHS needs to recruit, train & keep the right amount of staff with the right mix of skills in the right places. That – and sustainable social care staffing – is what a plan for the next 10 years & a refreshed long-term strategy for the workforce must address'!

The key to solving the NHS crisis must be a better workforce plan!
