The electeds who are just coming into this and don&#39;t understand the game are being told how it works by the highway builders, and the old guard is already in their pocket. This needs to be a conversation about making ODOT be fiscally and environmentally sustainable, not about finding funding for &quot;safety&quot; projects which they&#39;ll turn around and spend on car stuff again.</p>

I can&#39;t believe we&#39;re still operating under some assumption that there are adults in the room who understand how <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/transportation" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>transportation</span></a> actually works, and people trying to get somewhere without a car will just have to wait for the entire world to be rebuilt in some other future investment package.</p>
