The electeds who are just coming into this and don't understand the game are being told how it works by the highway builders, and the old guard is already in their pocket. This needs to be a conversation about making ODOT be fiscally and environmentally sustainable, not about finding funding for "safety" projects which they'll turn around and spend on car stuff again.

I can't believe we're still operating under some assumption that there are adults in the room who understand how <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/transportation" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#transportation</a> actually works, and people trying to get somewhere without a car will just have to wait for the entire world to be rebuilt in some other future investment package.
