Spotted new galls forming on an oak that has volunteered in a bad location next to a years-old catalpa and the clothesline.
Not just that big bulbous green one, but little "mosquito bite" ones starting up in adjacent branches.

Solitaire
This was captured in February during the middle of winter.
Camped in Yosemite Valley a snow storm moved through the valley dumping about 8 inches of snow.
As I made my way through the village in the morning I saw this fabulous snow covered oak tree and decided it would make a good subject for a photo. It's not really solitaire but it did stand out from al the other trees around.

Three years ago, we found a tiny apricot tree sprouted from a kernel in the compost heap.
Planted it and cared for it. it now has its first fruit, about five little apricots!
This year's count of new oak trees from acorns hidden by squirrels is 12. Will be potted and given away next year when they can survive on their own.
Grape vine cutting has roots & leaves. By one, get many free, .
First lavender is in full bloom. Lots of bees enjoying it. Pic later.
Ten "rescue" #oak seedlings I dug up and potted. They're volunteers from acorns that were stashed by scrub jays in litter beneath some Redwood trees. Some are Valley Oak. Others appear to be Coast Live Oak. From a strip of city easement land that gets whacked by city string trimmers every once in a while. Some bigger specimens (which i haven't "saved") show signs of having been whacked in the past. With any luck, these will recover from shock, and can be planted in approved sites.#trees
An 800-900 year old #Oak #Minchenden Oak, named in the #Doomsday book audit of the uk some 400+ years ago. I go to speak to my mum whose ashes joined a multitude. She always gets an offering of some brandy and tobacco.

I've just finished the two flat display cases for the boutique. They're for displaying my #knives and #rings this summer.
They're made of solid #oak and #metal
It was really interesting to make.

Every year I wonder if spring will really come or if nature will remain frozen, in an in-between state.
