It has a communist party over 100 million comrades strong. That party has presided over a massive improvement in the standard of living in their country; indeed at the expense of reform and opening up to capitalism, but with the party retaining political control.</p><p>They are trying to wrangle capitalism in a way that hasn't been done before, and may not succeed. It's certainly possible that the capitalist bourgeoisie could take over. But it's hardly a guarantee either.</p><p>Ultimately, when you describe "capitalist" China, capitalists around the world get mighty antsy. They would much rather a "capitalist" China that looks a lot more like the capitalist United States.
