The chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) grows up to 16 cm and weighs up to 25 g. It can be observed all year round and feeds on seeds, insects and berries. Also interesting: Chaffinches have a different dialect from region to region.

I was in Petaluma, CA, for North Bay Python (#nbpy) recently and took advantage of my east-coast-ness by going out at 5:30am local time to take some pictures. Sacks is an incredible part of the Petaluma landscape, acting as a perpetual fundraiser for hospice care and grief counseling. They also make an amazing shot in the morning! Great tit
I had already taken some pictures of great tits and chaffinches. That's why I was looking for a special background. I noticed this incidence of light on a young tree. So I pointed the camera there and waited for a bird to land. At first, the birds always landed facing the wrong way, but after a long wait, they finally landed in the right position. This is a photo of it.
The Great Tit (Parus major) belongs to the family of tits and is the most common tit in Europe. It grows up to 15 cm tall, has a wingspan of up to 23 cm and has a very varied diet (e.g. insects, larvae, nuts). Male great tits have a continuous black stripe on their belly and neck. These are broken in females.


Kohlmeise
Ich hatte schon einige Bilder von Kohlmeisen und Buchfinken geknipst. Deswegen habe ich nach einen besonderen Hintergrund gesucht. Mir ist da dieser Lichteinfall mit einem jungen Baum aufgefallen. Also habe ich die Kamera dahin ausgerichtet und gewartet, bis ein Vogel dort landet. Erst sind die Vögel immer mit der falschen Blickrichtung gelandet, aber nach langen warten auch mal in passender Position. Das ist ein Foto davon.
Die Kohlmeise (Parus major) gehört zur Familie der Meisen und ist die häufigste Meise Europas. Sie wird bis zu 15 cm groß hat eine Spannweite von bis zu 23 cm und ernährt sich sehr vielseitig (z.B. Insekten, Larven, Nussfrüchte). Männliche Kohlmeisen haben einen durchgehenden schwarzen Streifen am Bauch und am Hals. Bei Weibchen sind diese unterbrochen.

Imprints of a wolverine in the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, Finland, in 2023. These sightings are very rare, as there are only an estimated 160–180 of these fantastic animals in all of Finnish Lapland. In my 13-14 years of hiking, I have only seen one wolverine, and that was from afar many years ago.
