Ever gotten a paper into #trbam? Yep, it’s probably in there.

#trbam 2025 had big last-dance vibes to me, and that’s feeling truer by the day.
For #EngineersWeek, WSP released a piece on Moving Fast: #Transportation's Future reflecting on technical discussions held during last January's TRB Annual Meeting: https://buff.ly/4hKbsvv. #aviation #engineering #futureready #innovation #mobility #STEM #transportation #TRBAM
The black square in the middle is 40 inches square. For a minute I thought I could do a subway-style map of the 1923 railway network in Ontario and Quebec rather than just one of Toronto and Central Ontario.
That might be just a tad bit too ambitious.
(My #TRBAM doodling.)
Today at #TRBAM I got to hear what's going on in developing world transport; chat with someone about how to deploy woonerven in Ames, Iowa; ask a pointed question about lessons learned and cost control to the secretary of California DOT; and got invited to join a committee.
A good day.
Hi #TRBAM! My wife gave me this shirt to give away. I'm leaving it on a table on the top floor overlook, in case you want it.
Come see me talk about using AI to help paratransit riders at #TRBAM this afternoon! Room 145A at 1:30
Without a doubt, the strangest thing I saw at TRB this year was a booth in the exhibition hall with a live harpist and a bartender serving Irish Coffee. It was for TRA (Transportation Research Arena) in Dublin?
That said, the over the top booth clearly worked! Between the harp player and the Irish Coffee stand, it definitely stood out to me more than most booths
I'm not there, but for those interested in transportation research, take a look at posts on #trbam for peeks into the transportation research board annual conference. Some cool people posting there!
Normally don’t post much about work on here, but wanted to share I’ll be attending #TCampDC24 and #TRBAM this week(end)!
I’m looking forward to learning about all the great new developments in the transportation field, catching up with old friends and colleagues, and meeting some new folks too!
Minority Student Fellow Alonso Carrillo of the University of Arizona shares his poster on Affordable Housing Provision and Transit-Oriented Development today at #TRBAM! Now at #TRBAM: UA student Ash Avila is presenting her poster on The Effect of Vehicular Waste Heat on Personal Heat Exposure: https://annualmeeting.mytrb.org/OnlineProgram/Details/19201 Read more about Ash and her work in a recent spotlight: https://nitc.trec.pdx.edu/news/ua-student-ash-avila-studies-climate-crisis-support-nitc-diversity-grant
I’m happy to say I just overheard someone say “we pretty much have the pedestrian stuff solved” on diverging diamonds at #TRBAM
At #TRBAM Carlos Braceras, head of the #Utah DOT, says a project’s Purpose & Need should look beyond movement and safety for cars. He mentions four pillars: 1) improve health, 2) connect communities, 3) provide mobility, 4) help economy.
He also mentions the I-15 EIS process, which is an impressive effort. https://i15eis.udot.utah.gov/
Spending $18 for a salad, banana, and drink reminds me that bringing one's own lunch to a conference is rather important. That's like 1.4% the cost of #trbam registration!
I’m at #TransportationCampDC before heading to #TRBAM. Shabazz Stuart kicked things off by telling the crowd, “transportation is the connective tissue that binds society together.”
