Vice Pres. JD Vance wanted to meet the Pope, but Pope Francis wisely decided that a meeting with Vance would be a waste of time. After apparently concluding that Vance is not a decent human being and is not open to reason, the Pope decided to do something more productive, and almost anything would be more productive than meeting with JD Vance.

My life is a constant tension between

a. Wanting to be All The Prepared, meet All The #Deadlines, make Everyone Happy, Time All The Management

b. Wanting to # live my life, not #grind it away; to #create, #explore, #love my loved ones; to minimize the % of my life involving #email; to not beat my head against things I don't enjoy

Thus, my life looks like a rolling disaster, sometimes, to some kinds of people.

I have ADD and OCD. I consider both to be mild but I can't say for sure as I've never talked to a therapist about them. Since I work from home and I'm my own boss, I'm free to manage (or mismanage) my schedule.

I've learned a trick or two after endless self-analysis that helps me move beyond the endless distractions or frequent addiction to doomscrolling on social media.

Time is elastic by Laura Vanderkam [Shared]

Basically, time is elastic. When we decide that we need to do something, we find the time to do it. Other stuff either doesn’t happen, or it takes less time, or it gets punted forward. Much other stuff turns out to be more malleable than we might have imagined. And so, of course, the key to time management is treating the things we *want* to do with the urgency of the things we *need* to do. We make time for them first, and let everything else take the hit.

Staying on top of personal projects with Nextcloud Deck

blog.narf.ssji.net/2025/01/29/

Staying on-top of personal project is tricky due to limited in-flow time to make good progress. I now use Nexcloud Deck, and the Android companion app, which allows me to keep track of multiple projects in various state of progress, and to record information, documents and images. This is particularly useful for non computer-adjacent projects where I only have my phone around. It’s also handy to have yearly wrap up and have a sense of achievement!

For the 20% of humanity that is a chronic procrastinator: you are not alone (hi!). Here's a fantastic interview with a guy who knows his stuff, and has been seriously studying causes ("social esteem protection"), myths and solutions (no, not #TimeManagement or #PomodoroTimer) .

"Everyone procrastinates, but not everyone is a procrastinator."
