Der wohl einzige Friedhof, der vom ALDI-Äquator durchzogen ist: Zum #TombTuesday gibt es auf der Website ab sofort einen Artikel zum Friedhof Bredeney un Essen, auf dem u.a. Theo und Karl Albrecht als Gründer von ALDI Nord und Süd auf zwei entfernt voneinander liegenden Gräbern ihre letzte Ruhe gefunden haben. Theo passenderweise im Norden, Karl im Süden.

Zwei nebeneinander gestellte Fotos zeigen die Grabstätten der Familie Albrecht. Links ist ein aufwendig gestaltetes, schwarzes Familienmausoleum mit Giebel, Säulen und eingraviertem Text zu sehen, davor das Grab von Theodor Albrecht mit flacher Grabplatte. Umgeben ist das Grab von gepflegten Pflanzen und Grablichtern. Rechts befindet sich ein schlichter Grabstein für Karl und Mia Albrecht, eingebettet in ein Blumenbeet mit roten und weißen Blüten.

Just outside Palmela, on a rocky ridge above fields of wildflowers, lie some of Portugal’s most extraordinary Neolithic tombs: the rock-cut caves of Quinta do Anjo.
Carved by hand into solid rock over 5,000 years ago, these ancient burial chambers still echo with mystery and reverence.

Luistari in Eura is the largest excavated Iron Age burial ground in Finland. It is dated to 500-1200 AD. The graves are supine inhumations with clothing, jewellery and weaponry. The junction in the funerary roads at Cerveteri in Italy. These tumuli were Orientalising tombs. They were partly cut into tuff and partly constructed. One tumulus could have multiple chambers meant for a family. #TombTuesday

Zwei Engel, ein Totenschädel – und ein Jahr, das nie zu Ende geschrieben wurde: ANO 17 _ _

Vielleicht vergessen. Vielleicht nie begonnen. Der Stein erinnert. Und schweigt zugleich. #TombTuesday

Zwei verwitterte, nebeneinanderstehende historische Grabsteine aus Sandstein mit kunstvoller Reliefgestaltung. Beide Steine tragen im oberen Bereich ein rundliches Engelsgesicht mit stilisiertem, lockigem Haar und angedeuteten Flügeln unter dem Kopf – vermutlich Putten oder Todesengel. Zwischen den Grabplatten ist ein kleiner Totenschädel mit gekreuzten Knochen und einer umgedrehten Sanduhr zu sehen – ein klassisches Vanitas-Symbol für die Vergänglichkeit des Lebens. Die eingemeißelten Inschriften sind teils noch gut lesbar und datieren auf die Jahre 1698 und 17XX.

Bronkham Hill barrow cemetery in Dorset dates to the Neolithic and Bronze Age. The barrows range from small, 3.7 metres in diameter, to large, 30 metres in diameter. The whole ridge top is filled with barrows and cairns and holes in the ground. #TombTuesday
