My comradery project: comradery.co/reshapingreality

Had my meet with the comradery #WorkerCollective today as part of their onboarding. So far, they've been really #accessible and exactly what I'd hoped for. Very Leftist and focused on people not profits. whew.

Public posts on the comradery will also go on my wordpress blog. But supporter only posts will explore my original fiction and art. Due to my poor health, it'll be updated sporadically. Money will go to paying healthcare/housing expenses.

For #Accountants and #Bookkeepers of #Mastodon, do most companies use Excel for accounting/bookkeeping? or is quickbooks the main driver? if excel is used, is there some sort of template specifically made for accounting and how would I gain access to it? I'd like to know how to make 4 documents and credit and debit each, statement of financial position, Income statements, Statement of cashflows, and invoices. It would really help because I'm #Blind and Excel is very #Accessible with #ScreenReaders, and I would love to get back into accounting if at all possible, as it was my favorite subject in College and if I could gain employment in that field, I'd gladly do it again. Thank you for your assistance, and if you don't know the answer, please boost for reach.

Looks like it's a particular version, the Mate spin, that's borked. Which is funny because that is often considered to be the most conventionally #accessible desktop environment, possibly or even likely incorrectly so over other desktop environments but that's just par for the course at this point :)

#Accessible #transport is crucial for social inclusion, said Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins at the Inclusive Transport & Travel conference in Northern #Ireland. She emphasised the importance of improving #mobility for all, highlighting the diverse nature of society. The event focused on the Including People foundation, aiming to enhance social inclusiveness in transport. Kimmins stated that accessible transport goes beyond ramps and seating, stressing dignity, equality, and barrier-free living. It opens up opportunities in employment, education, and business. She also highlighted the need for people with sensory impairments and #disabilities to be involved in planning transport services. Kimmins affirmed her commitment to inclusivity and continued collaboration with disabled and older people to drive progress.

I'm back from #RSAC with stories galore, just in time for a breakthough in #gameDev #accessibility. I will be looking at some addons for #godot that make #game development more #accessible to the fully #blind using a #screenReader, while babbling about cable cars, too many hills and oh right I gave a talk, too :) See you in 45 minutes over at twitch.tv/IC_Null or https;//youtube.com/@blindlyCoding #smallStreamer #selfPromo #goingLive

TwitchIC_null - TwitchFully blind person hacking, coding and tinkering while using a screen reader. THM, HTB, accessibility, all the things.

One of the best things #DoctorWho and the #BBC have done is adapt classic Who serials into audio dramas using the original audio with added narration, and not just the missing episodes. Not only are they fun to listen to it’s an #Accessible way for people to experience the series and I wish they would do the whole thing including new Who. Honestly I wish more media companies would do this with their movies and series.

To other #blind #students, what tools have you used to help you format your papers with #APA styling and #citations? My #university provides #Perrla for free to students, but it doesn't seem to be the most #accessible with #ScreenReaders, at least not the online version. I haven't tried the add-on for #MicrosoftWord. With the online version, though, I don't see any keyboard shortcuts, and when you move into the edit box to start writing a paper, focus gets trapped there and it's hard to get out, so I don't think it's the best tool for me. The only other tool I know of is the reference manager built into Microsoft Word, but it seems to have fewer features and doesn't really help you format your paper like Perrla does, something I was looking forward to since all the APA rules for styling seem hard to remember.

#Introduction. Hey guys, my name is George, and I'm a 22 year old blind South African. I'm not great at introducing myself, but I'll give it my best shot. I've been blind my entire life, accept perhaps the first few months thereof. I've always had a passion for anything tech, from taking batteries out of old toys to trying to get my own home network set up. As you can probably tell, I love tech. I'm a gamer most of the time, or I like listening to something on #Audible. Especially if it offers #DolbiAtmos. It's one of my biggest dreams to get involved in the #accessibility movement. There's an expression that Jonathan Mosen uses, and it goes something like this. "Nothing about us, without us." I try to stick by this theory as much as possible, and am now attempting to get some of our banks on board to help make their apps fully #Accessible!
