Until you realize a medieval #peasant had more free time then the average American #worker.

The average US/EU worker has less vacation #time than a medieval peasant, and they had security of tenure “The tempo of #life was slow, even leisurely; the pace of #work relaxed. Our #ancestors may not have been rich, but they had an abundance of leisure.”

“Systematic bone tool production at 1.5 million years ago” (1) Nature paper 🧐

“Over a million years ago, #Ancient #Human #ancestors sat down to shave flakes off bones, producing a tool with a carefully created sharp edge. …Their discovery, published today in #Nature, pushes back the age of a large bone tool kit by more than a million years.” — ABC story.

ABC News · Ancient humans were crafting tool kits from bone 1.5 million years agoBy Jacinta Bowler

Hey? I follow the Auschwitz Memorial account. It's really, really hard. There are so many important reasons to follow that account. For me, my entire maternal line were Jews from the boarder region between Germany and Poland before WW2. I've done my best to trace their heritage. They are gone. No records. Very few survivors to note. An entire portion of my family utterly wiped from existence. I know there are better resources out there and I need to reach out. Just kinda sharing my experiences. Anyway, one reason to follow that account. Never forget. #Holocaust #Ancestors

60 years of cold war, millions of soldiers died and Trump ended it by giving up the US to Russia. I wonder where the American #Patriots are?
Now they say this is what #voters wanted, Really? Betray your #ancestors, betrayal of your own country, betrayal of friends like #Canada and #Europe?
I hope #Americans come to senses soon.
It is not money that makes the world go round. And if it is, you will be in problems soon.

Dhá Dhrom, Canfea, or the Ardgroom Stone Circle in the Beara Peninsula in Ireland.
Stone circles, dolmen, burial mounds and springs are important in my practice as places of power. These ancestral sites are tremendously powerful. These are the thin places, and by becoming still you can commune with the spirits of place. By honouring these spaces you step into the traditions of ancient humans, and you take your natural place as a being that is part of this great web.

existencia. Feliz de poder compartirlo con ustedes.

Cerro Azul (Guaviare), one of the most incredible places I have ever seen. These rock paintings, artworks created more than 10,000 years ago
by our ancestors, fill me with admiration, respect, intrigue, and mystery. They invite me to reflect and think about the lives and
thoughts of those who created them, their way of seeing the world, and the legacy they left etched in the rock, an eternal testament
to their existence. Happy to be able to share it with you.

Margaret Agnes Ruan McLaughlin, my 2xggma, married Charles McLaughlin, my 2xggpa, on 5 July 1864, while Charles was still in the Union Army. And yet, these two devout Irish-Catholics didn't have their first child until 1872. Recently, I felt compelled to re-examine original documents, including the 1900 Census (which I ADORE). It asks two separate questions: how many children have you had, and how many do you have. This allows the interviewee to account for stillborns, and children born alive but who died in the first few years of life (between censuses, at any rate). It turns out that Margaret and Charles had NINE children, but I had only ever known about the FIVE that survived to adulthood. This one line item in the 1900 US Census is the only evidence I have of their existence!

The moral of the story: always check, and recheck, original documents. Not everything is indexed, and there's always something to learn.

I'm getting research done at the Venango County Historical Society in Pennsylvania to find birth/death certificates. That's most likely where these children were born, and died - in Oil City. Watch this space for updates. #CarolynnNiLochlainn #AncestorsAliveGenealogy #ancestors #research #genealogy #FamilySearch #FamilyHistory #1900Census #FromPaperToPeople
