@etoneya
So, cleaning the fans didn't do anything, the laptop still locked up a couple of times.
This morning I had the idea of switching from the open source driver NVIDIA to the proprietary one. I can see less GPU/memory/power usage, so this looks promising.
Which is sad. On one hand I wish switching to the proprietary driver is all that I need, on the other hand I would really like to use the open source on (if it was stable). We'll see.
awww yiss! one of my favorite games of all time just showed up in the mail. still sealed and never opened.
this weekend I'll try to figure out how to get it running on #bazzite. It's from 2001 and mentions Windows 95 trademarks so I'm almost certain it's 32bit.
@Zugumba @autobrain
Tem funcionado bem pra mim também. Ainda estou explorando as ferramentas extras de administração, e ainda não instalei nenhum jogo, mas estou achando legal. #Bazzite
The NVIDIA on my Razer laptop seems to be going bad and misbehaving from time to time. But the laptop is way beyond the warranty, and I can't replace just that piece.
That makes me seriously consider switching to a Framework.
Fever is down and I'm at the "hacking up phlegm" stage of being sick, so I think I can work on this PC build!
I'm trying to cram a 9070XT and 9900X inside a small form factor mITX case. All the parts fit *on paper*, but it's going to be very tight in there. I spent about two months researching fitment and cooling, and I'm 3D printing a couple pieces to help with those concerns.
As this will replace my current gaming PC, I'm going to give #bazzite a try (I've been using Pop!_OS up until now). I'll also be bringing over the 2TB SSD from my old gaming PC, so all my games should (mostly) be ready to play!
I'll try to post some updates later today as parts start coming together.
bleh, infinity nikki still doesn't work on the Steam Deck running Bazzite, even with the new steam release
#infinitynikki #bazzite #steamdeck
Taking my first dip into the @kdenlive pool. I'll still need Resolve for specific things related to my paid work but whenever I can, I'll support something free and community maintained. Loving it so far and impressed with how feature packed it is.
@alex it's awesome. Please go ahead and try it. And if you want something more, you can try #bluefinos or #bazzite (for gaming) as well.
Over the past month, I've finally ditched windows, installed #Bazzite, then #Fedora 41, then #Debian testing, then Fedora 42. For all but Debian I set up my machine completely.
For someone who likes to tinker with my system in learning the hard way that these OOTB systems aren't really designed to be tinkered with, at least not under the hood.
I still maintain a #VoidLinux machine and it's been the most stable of all my systems. But Fedora is growing on me slowly. Flatpaks and all.
Nope. Ignore what I said above. Homebrew IS included.
Neat!
I feel like I just ventured into a new era of Linux that was hidden by my laziness of looking around for new solutions.
Second interesting thing about Bazzite: the "System Update" command (aka "ujust update") is a pretty convenient way to update (almost) everything.
One big issue I had with immutable OSes in the past was the complexity of having to update rpm-ostree, flatpak, pip, etc, all manually. It seems like "ujust update" (which in turn runs "topgrade" in the backend) deals with (almost) everything for you.
Apparently the only thing missing is updating the packages installed via Homebrew. But I'll keep poking around to figure out how to add it.

First interesting finding about Bazzite: when I first tried an rpm-ostree based distro a few years back (Fedora Silverblue), there wasn't anything to manage the installation of command line tools, like Flatpak does for graphical tools.
Now I just found out that Homebrew runs on Linux. I thought it was exclusive for Mac, but if that's what's gonna make my life easier, then I'll give it a try.
Bazzite DX has been chosen as my new desktop distro, and it's already up and running. So far, so good.
Why? Because my personal laptop is a Razer with an NVIDIA RTX, and Bazzite is focused on this kind of hardware, so I really doubt anyone would break the video drivers.
And, by the way, this is the first time that I'm running a Linux distro spin. Also, back on the immutable distro, which was not fun a few years ago, but I'm willing to try this again.
Worst case scenario, I can always rpm-ostree rebase to something else.
I don't game myself, but the folks who organize #Bazzite, a #Fedora-derived Atomic distro, claim a focus on gaming and hardware breadth.
Also, I see that they regularly present at the #FlcckToFedora conferences lately, so there is some coordination between those two projects..
Anyway, they're one of the distros mentioned in this article: https://itsfoss.com/linux-gaming-distributions/
Good luck!
U #bazzite to dává perfektní smysl.
Hey #lazyweb, I'm a current #Ubuntu user who successfully switched from #gnome to #sway
I'm debating switching to #bazzite but noticed #Fedora Sway Atomic 42 is also one of the Fedora Atomic Desktops (although I note that Bazzite does not get listed on https://fedoraproject.org/atomic-desktops/).
How can I get the Nvidia and Steam support as from Bazzite but get sway support as from FedoraSwayAtomic? What can I do? I don't understand the implications of ostree rebasing to know how to blend the support.
