"I always liked Chris Boucher saying that when he wrote Avon, Avon has two motivations for everything. He has the selfish motivation, and the more noble motivation, and then it's up to you to decide what's really motivating him."

Good writing sticks to telling the characters' story, in all it's messiness, and leaves the audience to interpret what it all means. Is Blake or Avon a hero or a villain? That's up to the viewer to decide.

NO SPOILERS IN COMMENTS PLEASE

YouTube thinks I need to see a few vids where people watch episodes of #Blakes7 for the first time. There are indeed people who have not been spoilered for the finale. :-) Kids these days - in *my* day we couldn't run to the internet to ask if that really happened.

Just finished rewatching Series 1 of Blake's Seven 💫, and Orac appears in the final episode ... though I'm sure his voice changed later on. Also he appears to have 4 USB slots (?) which was good in 1978.

If you can overlook cheap sets and props and that it's a bit "Shakespeare in Space", there's a lot of good things. Paul Darrow (Avon) and Jackie Pearce (Servelan) both magnificent. Stephen Greif (Travis, in S1) too.

Oh dear. Logged into Big Finish to see what's new and discovered that one of last month's releases is "Avon: A Terrible Aspect". I do not think I will be plonking down £19.99 for that. I doubt it is any better in audiobook form than it was in paper form, even if the cover is very pretty. #Blakes7
