Beagle ❤. Im letzten Jahr habe ich meiner Tochter "Das letzte Einhorn" vorgelesen, was mich wieder tief berührt hat. Beagles unverwechselbarer Stil, seine sprachliche Raffinesse und seine vielschichtigen, zum Schmunzeln anregenden Plotstrukturen müssen jeden Leser begeistern. Deshalb habe ich mir dann "Ich fürchte, ihr habt Drachen" gekauft und war erneut begeistert von dem Buch. Der Klappentext passt übrigens gar nicht. Ich fasse mal zusammen, worum es geht: Drachentöter Robert Thrax will eigentlich gar kein Drachentöter sein. Er hat den Beruf, der nicht sonderlich angesehen ist, von seinem Vater geerbt, der ein leidenschaftlicher Drachentöter war. Prinzessin Cerise von Bellemontagne will heiraten: Ihre Wahl trifft auf Prinz Reginald, einem klassischen „Prinz Charming“, der von seinem Vater König Krije fortgeschickt wurde, um ein Held (bzw. Mann) zu werden (was der wiederum gar nicht will). Beaufsichtigt wird Prinz Charming-Reginald bei der Mannwerdung von seinem schrulligen Diener Mortmain, der als Einziger im gesamten Buch genug Grips hat, Subtexte zu durchschauen. Es ist herrlich! Um das Schloss von dem Drachenungeziefer für die Hochzeit zu befreien, wird Robert gerufen und die Geschichte nimmt ihren Lauf: Es vergeht kein Absatz, ohne dass ich schmunzele oder breit grinse. Beagle schreibt hintergründig, tiefsinnig und mit sehr viel Subtext und Herz. Für Kinder ist das Buch leider nichts. Der Text arbeitet sehr subtil, sodass ihnen der halbe Lesegenuss entgeht, außerdem wird es ab dem Midpoint recht brutal. Man ahnt es nicht, weil das Buch als Märchen daherkommt, aber es ist grausig mit viel Blut und Toten. rsp-blogsNorberts fantastische Ecke: Buchliste 2008In meinen alten Daten habe ich die Aufzeichnungen, welche Bücher ich 2008 gelesen habe, gefunden. Damals konnte ich Bücher noch richtig lesen und hatte die meisten davon auch in meinen Bücherregalen stehen.
