#drumming

Here's a weird #drumming fascination for the day -- #thursdeath drummers who effortlessly switch from 16th to 32nd notes on the bass drums.

Something I could never do when I was still drumming, but it sounds epic. I mostly played singles and couldn't master heel-toe before moving onto other pursuits.

IOTUNN's 'Kinship Elegiac' is a good example of that.

*Hoarder victory dance!* I bought this curved cymbal stand arm several years ago, honestly not having a particular need for it, but enticed by the novelty, and it was on closeout—presumably not a big seller. Today I was trying to figure out how to mount a crash on the far side of my rack tom without adding a whole new stand, and a memory lightbulb lit up! It’s perfect.

I’ve really enjoyed working with @ology on his toolkit for scoring #MIDI #drumming, MIDI-Drummer-Tiny. He’s patiently answered my questions and had the grace to accept my pull requests, most of which haven’t so much added new features as they’ve helped clarify how to use the library successfully.

Gene has helped me get back into the swing of #Perl #programming after months of inactivity, and I’m looking forward to working with him more in the future. I couldn’t have asked for a better collaborator.

This was, indeed, epic. Different to Yamato in a number of entertaining ways; the first piece after the intermission only needed a 303 to make it techno. However, there was a recorded 4:4 beat used in a few songs towards the end that kind of stuck in my craw. Like, how couldn't they provide their own? But all in all another great night of live drumming.
