Baby Monsters: Monsters have babies too.
Baby monsters are even harder to find than the elusive "baby" pigeon. Very few folks can say that they've seen them, let alone created their portraits. I have been lucky. As you might imagine, monster parents can be a bit protective. Mothers in particular. They consider us (humans) more than a bit strange and potentially dangerous. It took most of my free time, lots of monster "treats" and carefully followed Monster Etiquette to befriend just a few of them. Even then, I felt a bit nervous and on edge as I made sketches of their most beloved offspring. It is always a good idea to remind oneself that monsters are ultimately unpredictable creatures, and should be given proper respect at all times.

This teeny, weeny baby is about the size of a large acorn. I found her around twilight, huddled on the forest floor, hiding amongst the fallen leaves and acorns, waiting for her mom to return with dinner. I kept my distance while I hastily made her portrait, knowing that she was somewhere close by. The last thing I wanted to do was make this sweet baby anxious.

Purplish dusk deep in the woods, a tiny baby monster -- the size of a large walnut, with delicate scales of pink, gold and light blue, is nestled in a bed of leaves and acorns. Head, arms and legs are wrapped tightly around itself as it waits nervously for its mother to arrive with dinner. Large eyes peer from its face, surrounded by floppy ears and tiny claws.

Noch ein weiterer Frühlingsblüher, der Hundszahn 'Pagoda' (Erythronium tuolumnense) oder auch die Forellenlilie - keine Ahnung, woher diese Namen kommen.🤪

Die Blüten duften sehr angenehm, allerdings muss man sich dafür recht tief bücken 😁
Die Blätter sehen auch im Sommer noch hübsch im Beet aus - hier lag der Schwerpunkt jedoch auf diesen "Doppeldecker"-Blüten 😊

zwei strahlend gelbe Blüten von hinten oben. Beide Blüten sind an hellgrünen schlanken Blütenstielen, die sich am Ende etwas nach vorn bzw. bei dieser Aufnahme weg vom Betrachter biegen. Daran sind die Blüten mit den sechs schmalen, nach hinten (also hier in Richtung des Fotografierenden) gebogenen Blütenblätter. Durch die Sonne erscheint das Gelb noch strahlender und beide Blüten wirken fast wie Sonnen-Schirmchen.
