We quite enjoyed it!
On the way out, we already had had a stop exiting from #nighttrain and walked about the #Speicherstadt. Enjoyed the sights and watched as Turkish carpets were being lifted up to some high storey. It was #9euroTicket summer, metro incl, so we could easily move around without thinking!
Later that day we took #train to #Lübeck for a night before our night #ferry out to #Malmö.
The way back was more rushed, #Copenhagen-#Verdun in ~30 hours, so pedalo was good!
“It’s kind of like the experience of a cruise ship, but instead of being a boat cruise it’s a rail cruise.”
Everyone seems to be tooting about night trains so here we go #NightTrain
@acb Even as a definitely not very agile, and sightly overweight, 64-year old I managed to use a such just fine last year, Hamburg–Wien. Would definitely do it again, when travelling solo, if available on a route suiting my itinerary.
(I doubt my wife would want to, though, she would probably find it claustrophobic.)

And that's a wrap! Delay of exactly 10 minutes in the end, so just above 15 hours. #NightTrain #CrossBorderRail
Welcome to Croatia! Zagreb should be just behind that hill. #CrossBorderRail #NightTrain
Hmm, is it really so that for two persons, a shared #Trenitalia sleeping-car compartment ("Vagone Letto Relax — Doppio Cabina Intera") Torino–Lecce is 226€, while for a single person by themselves, the same compartment ("Vagone Letto Relax Uso SIngolo — Cabina Intera") is (only) 137€?
Doesn't seem logical to me. Either the double should be cheaper or the single higher.
(Eurail still is not able to sell a reservation for two in the same compartment.)
My last night train pro tip is that the top bed has overflow space above the corridor, recommended for tall people (don't hit your head though). Downside: the staff guy complained that I left one drop of water on the lower bed after using the sink. He must not see that I'm using a seat in day mode after carefully stowing the bed sheets.
And there was a proper breakfast with a warm drink on top of the snacks after all. #NightTrain
Picture of the breakfast as we're presumably waiting to cross Liechtenstein in the Buchs freight depot.
Speaking of, another pro tip is to bring your own food in night trains, as breakfast quality is quite variable & there's generally no restaurant car.
My usual kit to improve the night train experience: headlamp, ear plugs & inflatable pillow. Might not be needed tonight as I'm alone, but you never know about the pillow quality and air ventilation can be quite loud.
Pro tip: the lower bed is usually the loudest in terms of air conditioning. But today there is a big blue light on the control panel next to the upper bed in night mode. Might add a sleeping mask to the kit next time!

surprisingly cool design features in the new Nightjets and their Mini Cabins
On the night train
Worked a full day at home. Made pizza for dinner with the family. Put the kids to bed, where needed.
Then biked to the station, and caught the train. Tomorrow I’ll be by the sea.
@straphanger Are there any #nighttrain connections still existing in Northern America?
Going Tallinn-Vilnius with a single #CrossBorderRail ticket is lovely https://ltglink.lt/en/vilnius-tallinn but unfortunately #Flixbus remains much more convenient for Tallinn-Warsaw. 14 hours direct bus conveniently matched to the afternoon ferry from Helsinki and many morning trains towards Germany or Austria vs. 11+8 hours train requiring me to get up at 6 for the earliest ferry, spend a night in Vilnius and possibly another in Warsaw...
Any hopes for a #NightTrain Tallinn-Warsaw?
