TIL (today I learned) that nixery.dev is really handy to put together a #container #image on the fly, i.e. you only specify the #nix packages you would like inside the image:

podman run -ti --rm nixery.dev/git/bash/go bash

(and you get an image with git, bash and go)

I've created my first GUI in Rust. I made a wrapper for #paperage, which is an application for saving encrypted secrets on paper.
I had to tweak paper-age a bit, but now you can use it in the browser using #WASM.
It's still a bit messy, but it should work. And of course, there's #nix support.

All the #neovim on #nix configuration solutions I've seen so far (https://github.com/nix-community/nixvim, https://github.com/NixNeovim/NixNeovim, https://github.com/nix-community/kickstart-nix.nvim) feel suboptimal. On one hand, I'd love for nix to manage the plugin lifecycle and, especially, the external binary dependencies. On the other hand, unlike vscode, neovim's configuration isn't declarative, and writing lua code in nix strings just feels dumb.

Also, Lazy's syntax for configuring those plugins is neat.

I think the one thing I am not happy concerning NixOS is the lack of a GUI VPN (not Flatpak).

I, know how to use the terminal, but I can repeat how to use it until I am blue in the face, and pass out, but that knowledge and wisdom will wash over the other person who needs it. They'll hear me, but forget the moment I walk out of the room. If it is not graphical, they're not learning it.

#Linux users: Have you tried and did you like using #nixos ?

Apparently some #Nix / #NixOS matrix room(s) have gotten csam spam. I have not verified this claim myself, but honestly, we can all probably just not check matrix for a few days until hopefully things are back to normal.

I do *not* know what utilities #Matrix provides to prevent the proliferation of this information. If you joined the room from a different home server then your server may have synchronized the material to your infrastructure.

I think the safest course of action is not opening a matrix client for a few days...
