I was telling @taylan the problem I have with the #migrant issue is assimilation. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their OWN country, and that goes both ways. And when you strive towards assimilation, people will come out of the woodwork to support you. I've gained so many new #norwegian friends. Because of that commitment. I'm learning the language, and hell, I legally changed my name to show that commitment. It's about effort. Also...Norwegian country #music is really weird.

While I hate the ugly semi-winter here in Germany I'd exchange everything for a more cold and bitter one in a Scandinavian environment. Seeing how fast the mountains got covered by snow last October was a great experience and although the Winter in the North isn't easy, I'd welcome this challenge with open arms!

After passing Lillehammer (remember the Winter Games 1994?) we encountered this site near Fåvang scaffolded in fog in the early morning. Still not knowing what "Rom" (city of Rome?) has to do with this, we didn't think further about the potential meaning of the painted letters. Great scenery anyway!

Later we discovered that it meant "Room" or "Room for rent" - but in this morning, it was somehow some kind of riddle...

@peter I've given up on Duolingo for my #norwegian studies. After a year of study, I feel like I should be at B2. And all my Norwegian friends say I speak decent Norwegian, but you can tell it's the Duolingo dialect. Its designed to just keep you on the app, and if you're off the app and, you know, speaking the language, it bitches at you. I'm getting more out of #norsktut, and translating magazine articles off NRK.no. I'm also *cough* manifesting *cough* the Pimsleur lessons my way.

After searching shelter from a nearing thunderstorm we either discovered the end of the rainbow for the first time or the rainbow bridge to Valhalla guarded by Heimdall himself. Whatsoever, a second rainbow appeared as well, doubling the rare impression of what a thunderstorm can create within seconds!

At the end of October 2023, we drove 164 kilometers to Trondheim and needed nearly 2:30 hours to reach the city. While we ventured through the area we saw different things but one of the most iconic sceneries I knew from Trondheim was finally photographed today.

Winding its way along the Nidarosdomen park and picturesque areas, with the historic, wooden wharf houses lining its sides towards the mouth at the Trondheimsfjord, and the beautiful, wooden bridge “Gamle Bybro” crossing it, the scenic Nidelva river is a wonderful template for many famous pictures of this scenery you may have stumbled upon!

Having seen this, one part of my traveling bucket list was finished today! ✅

I need to feel more confident with my #norwegian. But I don't really speak it alot because....well, my bitch ass mother screamed at me for learning it like I'm some kind of terrorist, and the climate here in Texas...ICE may come after me. I just feel so comfortable with it, I mean, I legally changed my name to a Norwegian name, because I feel like I belong. Norwegians are introverts, and that's okay! Because so am I. And it's a cool culture.
