JRD3DU~ On the right, Jay (see previous post). On the left, a young 19 year old guy we met, "crazier" than us. Started walking on the road in Vancouver to head back to Montreal. Thousands of kms in, he bought some rollerblades and poles and went along gliding on the shoulder listening to beats in a quasi-dancing fashion. He slept in the ditch in his clothes with no tent. Dave PhotographyKelly-Moore Paint building in Sunnyvale, now vacant and boarded up as the business has moved to Texas. But you can still see the outline of the iconic “Parking In Back” sign that used to grace that window. Google Street View still has the original. PanethosAn iconic Route 66 roadside respiteWe had the opportunity to stay at one of America’s most iconic roadside motels — the <a href="https://sleepinawigwam.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Wigwam Motel Village</a> located along Old Route 66 in <a href="https://www.holbrookaz.gov/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Holbrook, Arizona</a>. Front office While not necessarily a politically correct name/theme in the present day (they are technically tepees for example), this quaint motel exudes tons of Mid-Century modern cuteness and charm with a hefty touch of Southwestern flare. Adding even more pizazz is the collection of antique automobiles and small trucks parked throughout the site. A small museum of the motel’s storied history and of the surrounding region is located in the back portion of the front office. If you are ever passing through Holbrook from <a href="https://www.nps.gov/pefo/index.htm" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.nps.gov/pefo/index.htm</a> or by the town on Interstate 40, consider taking a few minutes to see and admire this historic roadside attraction that’s been successfully operating for three-quarters of a century.Peace!
