Forum: #GE2025 is more than abt winning seats
"As #Singapore marks 60th year of independence.. not merely a routine democratic exercise but a contest of ideas, credibility & renewal.. A maturing #democracy needs a #diversity of voices, credible opposition, & leaders with both head & heart. Voters, esp'ly e younger gen, r watching closely not just what candidates say, but how they say it, & whether they #walkthetalk.. #vote w clarity, courage & conviction"

A Bee Fly, Brachyanax satellitius, spotted at Thomson Nature Park on 22 Dec 2024. The second shot shows it in mid-flight.

Within a day of posting it on iNaturalist, it was identified, showing the power of a world-wide social network for nature observations.

So far, this is the first and only observation of Brachyanax satellitius on iNaturalist [ inaturalist.org/observations/2 ].

587 people registered to vote in the Singapore general elections from San Francisco. I am one of them

I was able to register online quite easily using my phone. It took 5 minutes and I was notified of my eligibility (has residency requirement; need to have spent more than 30 days in Singapore in 3 years) within 3 days

The funniest population to react to East Asian dislike of of fans and wind drafts (to the point that there's such a belief of fan death, and you can find auto switches for JP/KR-sold fans that'll switch off standing fans at night because it's considered unhealthy to sleep with the fan on*) has to be Malaysians and Singaporeans because:

1. Standing fans ONLY? we have *ceiling fans*
2. Fans only? We turn on the a/c AND the fan at the same time 🤣
3. There's even 2-in-1 units like in the pic lmao

Anyway this is weird behaviour outside our respective countries but natch, it makes sense to meeee.

*I'm understating it. They believe you'll die.
