A few lovely scenes from the pagan festival I attended at the end of March. It was at a state park, a little oasis of wild nature in the middle of a large metropolitan area.

A fallen tree with a thick trunk runs horizontally over a dirt trail through the forest. It is high enough in the air that it looks like many people could walk underneath without ducking. To the left of the trail is another fallen tree trunk of similar size, but it has been sawed off to make room for the trail. The forest is lush with deciduous leaves. This part of the forest is open to the sun, and the fallen branch casts a parallel shadow across the trail. In the distance, another fallen trunk lies on the ground, this one also cut to make room for the trail.

Great to see @HenryWCoeSP here on Masto. Always a favorite park of mine, and very unique, with over 200 miles of trails IIRC. The Backcountry Weekend events are especially good. I've hiked there often, mountain biked, and backpacked with friends and family.

Moments after taking this shot a tree came sliding down the icy gorge mere feet away from me. Needless to say I packed my gear up as fast as I could to get out of there. A very scary moment at Stony Brook State Park and one I'll never forget. This was back in 2010 and I learned real quick, there is a reason why they close trails off. If a trail is closed, don't be a young me, stay off! At least I got a nice photo out of it
