#WIPWednesday • The far left side of this black on black part of my current #embroidery project is done. More to come.

Lia’s fingers show a 2.5 by 3.5 inch wonky blob of black on black whipped backstitch that looks a bit like flames, but if you’ve been following this piece you’ll know it’s pubic hair. It’s definitely pubic hair. An hourglass-shaped needle minder that reads “this is taking forever” is attached to the cloth.

1/3 of the body finished. It's getting a bit boring to knit, although it really looks beautiful.

Fingering weight yarn, so it takes forever. I also think it might be too big... although that might be nice, and I can easily make it smaller by adding a side seam at the end.

So, on we go.

I've been a bit quiet here. I'm dealing with some complex health issues (which funny enough actually give me hope that I've identified the cause!), but I'm still working on the commissions I have underway. So here's a pic of the Monotropa flowers WIP. As you can see, the flower buds are still missing. I still need to solder them first!

Five handmade Monotropa flower sculptures in progress, arranged on a dark blue surface. The pale, translucent stems and petals are sculpted with a delicate, waxy appearance. Each flower has visible copper wires extending from the base and some protruding from the flower tips, where the buds will be soldered later.

A very early UI draft: experimenting with Venn diagrams to explore how countries are discussed in relation to each other across Zeit and the New York Times. Basically, I am showing how many articles are tagged using the names of both countries and how many other meta-keywords they have in common across 1 year of news coverage from the two newspapers. #wipwednesday

The image shows four Venn diagrams (sets of two circles, at times overlapping with each other) on a web page. At the top, two dropdown menus show the name of two countries part of a sentence: coverage about Italy overlaps with Greece. Two of the diagrams are colored in purple, at the top the title "The New York Times". The remaining two diagrams are pink, at the top the title says "Die Zeit". The diagrams show the amount of articles and the keywords used to tag news content that are shared between the two selected countries (Italy and Greece) according to the two publications (NYT and Zeit).

This week's #WIPWednesday :
* Finished the second sock and blocked them
* Started a new pair of short heel tab socks
* Finished the body of the hand spun cardigan with the folded hem
* Prepared for picking up the sleeves. I will make them a bit wider than the pattern's

Pair of had knit socks on blockers. The have shallow stripes in pinks and light blue paired with dark blue and solid cuff, heel and toe in dark blue. They are done with a technique called helical knitting.

Sock in the making. It has a folded heel tab and short row heel in bright green and a few rows on the leg and foot in a variegated yarn with purples, pinks and blues. There's a bulb stitch marker close to the corner of the heel.

Knitted fabric in shades of brown and cream with a folded hem show on the outside and the inside in the gap in the middle. On the wrong side you can see the tiny braid at the 'seam' as a result of the three needle bind off.

Armhole of an unfinished knitted cardigan. Most stitches are on waste yarn, but on the bottom part a series of stitch markers has been inserted to indicate where to pick up stitches.

Added the potential colors and a bit of detailing to my future bag charm collection! I find them really cute and am excited to have to time to make them! They'll be a fun new product for Summer!

Another Emotional Support Chicken!

Using scrap yarn, this is 1st one I've made of wool (v. acrylic). I must say it's a much more pleasant knitting experience - 2 strands fingering held together on US2 needles, so very tight, but wool gives some spring.

Still, my upper arms and shoulders hurt! It's OK, I'm knitting off anxiety, and it's a workout my muscles need.

In the home stretch with my Eagle Linewomen. Fourth down? Turn eight? No, those imply a time limit. First and goal?

#WIPWednesday, and all I have to show for it is a new splodge of mostly dark blue along the bottom here. Haven't had a single second to do any knitting or any other crafts this week so far, ack!

Today marks the third Wednesday in a row of failing to put a video out, despite staying up until half two in the morning to try and finish it. So this week I put my task list into one of those auto scheduling apps hoping it might have some answers...

...it turns out I have like 20 hours more work to do in my week than there is literal time, so...er...no wonder I'm stressed. Whoops. Time for a rethink

For #WIPWednesday I have:
* sock 2 cast on ready for a short trip
* 28 grams of fiber left to spin
* 5 cm of the body of the Cymric cardigan left to go - that is the to be folded part of the hem
* fun blending board experiment with recently dyed Gotland and an older sample of minty coloured Clun Forest (I think, could also be Southdown). The Gotland had not felted and was still reasonably organised after dyeing.
