John Goerzen<p>Anybody have Wayland-compatibile tiling compositor (WM) recommenddations? I'd been using <a href="https://floss.social/tags/xmonad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>xmonad</span></a> for years, but it doesn't work with Wayland. <a href="https://floss.social/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDE</span></a> <a href="https://floss.social/tags/Plasma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Plasma</span></a> with <a href="https://floss.social/tags/bismuth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bismuth</span></a> was good for me, but Bismuth doesn't work with latest Plasma. I've really not found anything good with Gnome, and the options like <a href="https://floss.social/tags/sway" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sway</span></a> and <a href="https://floss.social/tags/hyprland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hyprland</span></a> require a bunch of time to configure and don't do things like remembering what to do when I plug in different external monitors like KDE does. I appreciate KDE's automation.</p>

christofsteel<p>Nachdem ich auf meinem Laptop schon etwas länger <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fedora</span></a> laufen hab, bin ich jetzt auch auf meinem Desktop gewechselt. Auch die DE hab ich gewechselt. Von <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gnome</span></a> zu <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDE</span></a>. Auch wenn ich noch meinem alten <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/xmonad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>xmonad</span></a> hinterher trauer, aber kann halt kein <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wayland</span></a>.</p><p>Ich hatte dort vorher ein <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>manjaro</span></a> laufen und war im Gegensatz zu einem "echtem" <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/Arch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Arch</span></a> immer etwas unzufrieden. Jetzt sind die einzigen Maschinen, die noch Arch basiert sind mein Server und mein <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/Steamdeck" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Steamdeck</span></a> 😅</p><p>Aber das bleibt auch erstmal so</p>
Ben Clifford<p>lol <a href="https://mastodon.hawaga.org.uk/tags/android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>android</span></a> studio phone emulator vs <a href="https://mastodon.hawaga.org.uk/tags/xmonad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>xmonad</span></a></p>
Marcin Kulik<p>Last change on the software side of my dev setup was to start using <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/PaperWM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PaperWM</span></a>. It’s so awesome! It’s fast, smooth, has exactly what I need from a window manager, and it’s rock solid. In the past I’ve been using <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/awesomewm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>awesomewm</span></a>, <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/xmonad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>xmonad</span></a>, <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/i3wm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>i3wm</span></a> and while I liked them all better than classic floating WMs, only PaperWM feels exactly like what I always needed. And, on a 120hz display its quick animations look fantastic.</p>
