And, of course, it's much easier to meet people, too. On a bike I get chats with the crossing guard on the way to school, tours of people's verge gardens, waves with children riding their own bikes, and other small moments of beautiful connection.
Because I'm a nerd, here's some research that talks more about active transport and social connection: https://natcen.ac.uk/publications/understanding-influence-social-and-physical-environments-loneliness
"… of course, it's much easier to meet people"
I'd love to see what's actually behind such wild blanket statements.
"if you're willing to spend more time stopped than pedalling somewhere, and are in the habit of accosting random people, then using a bicycle as a prop rather than for transportation can be for some (naturally extremely gregarious) a way to meet people."
Like, of course, jumping out of your car at red lights and striking up a conversation with a nearby driver.
@lnlyisol Buddy are you okay?
