As much as I'd like to see Canada go with the Gripen, it hasn't happened yet.

@RoyBrander @GeriAQuin The way it was explained, 16 of them can't be halted without breaching the contract.
The Canadian Air Force has resisted the idea of having two sets of aircraft because of logistical and training challenges.
So it sounds like if we followed the termination rules of the contract, we would still be stuck with 16 F-35s and still have to maintain them and train pilots on them.

But it doesn't matter ,save to accountants. I think the population sees this as existential; it's like asking if we could afford covid vaccines.
The military will have to suck up flying two, and we'll have to suck up the bill.
But we can get our satisfaction by having the pilots trained on both give a long series of 1-star reviews to the "Fuckin'35" ("I kiss the gound after every flight". It could get funny...)
