"No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like."

No KingsNo KingsOn June 14—Flag Day—Donald Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else.

‘Trump-style’ campaign against #EU civil society fuels fears for #European #democracy

Civil society in #Europe is under attack. The EU’s biggest political group, the #EPP, is pushing to cut funding for the critical voices of  NGOs, accusing them – without evidence – of lobbying on behalf of the Commission. One of the MEPs behind the effort is linked to a company that benefits from the same EU funds.

The law locks up the man or woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
But leaves the greater villain loose
Who steals the common from off the goose.

The law demands that we atone
When we take things we do not own
But leaves the lords and ladies fine
Who take things that are yours and mine.

Part of me wonders if many of the problems in #US #politics are pieces of one big problem.

Since #WW2 (and even earlier) the #UnitedStates has been trying to be a #Superpower and a #Democracy at the same time.

I always thought both aims were at cross purposes, since the whole point of being a superpower is control over others though strength, and the point of democracy was to give people power over themselves.

paypal and a few other are in bed with a few other #bigCorps, credit card corps etc, to track everyone and then sell that info to anyone what wants to pay. These bigCorps have told us our government is forceing everyone into such a system. It goes by a number of names, Know Your Customer etc.

It has an upside, it is suppose to reduce dark money funding criminal/political activity but recent history has shown us that it doesn't really do that.
