Living in America today is absolutely surreal at times.
Walking with #LadyDuchess this afternoon, and it was beautiful. Lovely weather, birds chirping, families having fun in backyards, a barbecue in the distance making my mouth water.
And then I remember all the things taking place outside this beautiful neighborhood. Things that haven't visibly affected it yet.
But the rot is getting closer each day. Soon it will be affecting every neighborhood and every household.
I like to think I'm resilient, but man, shit's rough in the world right now. So many people being harmed, and we're only at the event horizon.
I get by with daily resets on long walks through the woods with #LadyDuchess, but not sure how I'd be doing if not for that.
Hope all you lovely people are well and finding ways to keep your head up.
@PamelaBarroway I have found that daily walks/runs through the woods are really important for my well-being - especially with my pup #LadyDuchess, who always demonstrates the joy and peace that comes with being in the moment.
Countering the horror and terror and fear I have experienced these past few weeks, my walks have brought wonderful experiences, reminded me of happy memories, and also keep me grounded in the thought that we (humanity) have been here before... and can overcome this moment.
Figured y'all might enjoy the end of a 5-minute howling duet with #LadyDuchess.
She's just the best.
Lots of things to worry about, but I'm trying to remember to appreciate the good moments like #LadyDuchess does.

Nobody can take my love. Nobody can prevent me from committing the sin of empathy. Nobody can keep me from caring.
#LadyDuchess having a great time running and pulling me along.
Look what a good girl she is! She gets a bit distracted at 0:14, but snaps back instantly when I tell her "go-go"
We stopped for plenty of sniffing and play on the way back.
#LadyDuchess and I stumbled upon an unmarked, well-maintained ~1 mile nature trail through the woods around the artificial lake adjacent to our neighborhood.
Really lovely. There's a berm, so you can't even tell you're 200ft from a busy road.
Lots of birds. Just really nice.
Kind of frustrated we didn't know about it before now! Always good to have something like that in the back pocket for when I don't have the energy/time to drive us to distant adventure locations.
Pictures next time.
