Since I canceled my #AppleMusic subscription and switched to #Navidrome I browse much more on #bandcamp and keep finding new interesting #music and bands which I buy there.
I'm so happy to finally have made the move.

Today is #BandcampFriday! (thank you @etherdiver for the reminder: https://ravenation.club/@etherdiver/114435218366647474)
I've participated before, but this is my first one since cancelling my music subscription and self-hosting #Navidrome instead (more on that here: https://elk.zone/vis.social/@candide/112946346765485601 and here: https://vis.social/@candide/114174971355035482)
While I try out navidrome, my new habit will be to support the indie artists I love directly (via music purchases, attending live shows, etc.)
See you at the next one: https://isitbandcampfriday.com/
I've set up my own streaming service with #Navidrome. I fill it with ripped CDs and digital downloads of albums. The convenience of streaming without the stinky greedy capitalists in between AND my purchase of the digital downloads actually benefits the artists. Win-win.
#Navidrome is too great — the only thing that escapes me is an efficient way to add lyrics to allllll of my music.
@LaurentiusFisch
Exactly. I just "rediscovered" my MP3 collection. By installing #navidrome and suddenly having it available again.
And if I trust the sources, the band gets m more money from the CD than from the streams

Migrating from Plex to Jellyfin to Navidrome has meant refactoring how I record listens at each step. Much of the code architecture has remained the same — error reporting, inserting tentative artist and album records, but the data retrieval and recording has shifted.

I wrote about my personal music collection consumption and management history, choices and approach leading up to using Navidrome.
Looking for help to play songs bought from iTunes via Navidrome. Just discovered that some of the music I thought I had bought and paid for cannot be played. Recommendation is to enable iTunes Match, let it find the matches and then download the matched version.
I’m willing to do that, but is there an alternative? I don't mind doing work if it gives a good result.
Thanks
Que giro, o #Navidrome, no #Zenbrowser (https://zen-browser.app/), nos comandos do player, enquanto toca, tem notas musicals a esfumarem-se dum CD azul, como se fosse fumo que se liberta dum cigarro! Espectáculo!
I've been very selfish with my time this week (the people I've helped this week might disagree), lots of time to code, etc, and to listen to music.
@itsfoss Kew is absolutely the best thing I have discovered in a long time. I completely stopped using my Navidrome server at home because of it. #cli #terminal #music_player #Navidrome
Since I have #Navidrome running I pay more attention again about which #Music I really own vs which I have access to.
And I'm back to ebay for hunting bargains And I consider buying MP3s from bands that I really want to support
I looked in the database and there was no user there, which I do not understand, but there it is. So I created a new admin user, and now he exists. Whether he will still exist when I next want to log on remains a moot point.
I’ve only used Navidrome a couple of times after installing it, but every time I point my browser at it, I am asked to create a new Admin user. I've done that! How do I just log on as that user?
@raph Excellent post. I've been playing with Jellyfin, but I only need music. Although I have a Pika account, I wanted to host myself to avoid storing all my music on Pika. Big problem is that Navidrome's instructions for an MacOS service just do not work. Works perfectly in Terminal, not as a service. I'd like to find a way to load directly, but for now this is great.
I'm not sure where the post I was replying to went (including for this one: https://vis.social/@candide/112966932221960803), but I'm circling back to this because it was my introduction to #navidrome, and I now have my own server running!
I finally gave self-hosting a go, and learned how to use the Raspberry Pi that had been sitting in its box for ages.
I blabbed about under another post (https://vis.social/@candide/114049820212697605), and will probably blab about it some more in a future blog.
All that to say: Thank you @paperdigits!
@mkj I might transcode my FLACs to something else when my #Tangara arrives, otherwise I generally use #Navidrome which streams mp3 files to save bandwidth and/or for browser compatibility. At least I think it's using mp3.
*Thrilled* that #Navidrome's big update didn't break or change the private API I'm using to track my listens.
Navidrome v0.55.0 has been published!
