#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 63. Or 0b111111 if you prefer
Today I got the search results hooked up to the front end, so the application finally has some functionality! It's still early days, but making progress.

@fede improbable #sailfishOS even exists, sitll survives. Earlier versions also looked 'improbable' cause their #glow effects.
#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 61. Finally an asynchronous YouTube search invoked from a Sailfish OS app.
There's no feedback to the user interface yet, no way to play videos, in fact no much of anything. But it's a base to build on.
@fede add #SailfishOS's #improbability bonus...
#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 60. Some final cmake wrestling to be done.
Getting the executable to identify the library location at runtime.
#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 59.
Attempting to get the library picked up at runtime, using the rpath, the environment, frankly anything I can think of!
After deactivating Android battery optimisations for #Signal – as it requested – my battery drains ~1.5x as fast and my phone is always warm. Y U no use #UnifiedPush? >.<
The worst part: I cannot even disable it again, as the Android settings of #SailfishOS do not provide a pathway towards battery settings.
I want my desktop Linux with config files back.
#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 58. Following @vige's advice: switching from qmake to cmake.
Turns out not to be as challenging as I'd initially feared!
When using the Sailfish IDE with a CMake project, the option to add files or classes to the project is disabled in the Projects view.
Does anyone know if there's some way to allow this? It's by no means a dealbreaker, but I've become quite used to using it when working with qmake projects.
Maybe one for you @vige?

#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 57. Finally a running app with a #QML user interface and linked to the NewPipe Extractor library.
It's not yet functional, but it'll make for a good base to build on.
#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 56. Finalising the Docker build container (still using Debian Buster... maybe it'll be a proper Sailfish OS install in the future).
Weekly GNU-like #MobileLinux Update (18/2025): Mobile Overlord adds Desktop Mode
Just ordered my first #linuxphone from #jolla with #sailfishos as it’s OS! Excited to play around with it and put it to a test, but my main hope is that it can fully replace my iPhone as main driver phone (either right away or at a later point).
Been using iPhone for around 15 years, but not happy with the walled garden, privacy issues nor price levels - and want to actively promote #FOSS so that it can also become a robust alternative for mobile.
Let’s see how it lives up to my expectations and hope once it arrives!
Anyone else that have a #jolla - or thinking of getting one? What are your experiences with it?
#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 55. Admittedly, it's not the full Sailfish OS operating install suggested by @piggz (I appreciate the advice and will return to it), but today I have at least managed to get a sensible glibc and gcc combination installed.
#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 54. Updating the Debian Buster Dockerfile so it runs its own SSH server.
Europa tiene un potencial HarmonyOS con el que dejar de depender de Google y Apple. Solo le falta una cosa

#NewPipe #SailfishOS dev diary day 53. Running Debian Buster on Ubuntu Noble Numbat to build Sailfish OS libraries written in Java.
The fact this is even possible -- and with so little effort -- is just brilliant. But I have a nagging feeling it's hiding a much deeper problem (mumble mumble.. versioning... mumble mumble... NixOS).
