A Red-Winged Blackbird, a medium sized black bird with very obvious red patches at the shoulder of their wings. This one is leaning forwards perched on a post with wings a little open which shows them off even more. These are just red - some also show a yellow band at the edge of the red, but local ones here seem not to have the yellow. Green grass out of focus in the background.

A Green Heron, in flight, right to left of frame, over calm blue water. The bird is a small heron, with dark pointed bill, blue-green cap, cinammon neck and blue outer wing feathers. Under the wing the leading edge has a yellow-gold look, then a lighter band before the darker blue-green. The yellow feet are trailing in this picture. Yellow eyes and a small yellow band forward of the eye, and a lighter band under the eye complete the description.

A Lark Sparrow, a sparrow with very defined marking around the head, black line through the eye, russet patch below and behind the eye, and cap, and lighter bands between and under the throut. Largsih triangular bill, shades of brown/black on the back/wings. On a gravel path.

A tiny thing with brown and yellow markings - brown up from the brown bill over the head - and yellow over the eyes and cheeks and front. Yellow and brown back. A dark line through the eye.

An Anna's Humminbird, a very small bird with green iridescent back, lighter but still amazing front and a darker face - which when it catches the light, as in the 2nd shot, is bright red, but in this one looks brown-green. Perched on a small dry branch, out of focus greenery behind.

A hole in a tree, now being used as a nest for Oak Titmouses/Titmice? This tasty morsel was just delivered. The bird is in the opening of the hole looking out with an insect of some sort in its bill. The birds is light brown with dark eyes, and small.

A Horned Grebe, a small water bird with dark back, crown and upper neck, with cinnamon lower neck and a golden plume coming from the bright red eye backwards. Small poited black bill. The red eye actually have a yellow circle around the black pupil. Spell-binding! Swimming in calm water.

A Snowy Egret, just taking off for a short hop acros the mud bansk in the creek after a female. Long dark legs dangling back, the yellow feet are covered in mud, head out forward with sticky-up plumes on the head, above the yellow band reaching from the eye to long black bill. The wings are out but hanging on the down-beat - the bird moving left to right of frame. Water of the creek can be seen at the foot of the frame, the area behind the Egret is the mud bank.

A Great Blue Heron, a large water bird with long legs, neck and yellow bill. It is standing in water 3/4 of the way up its legs Mud banks at top left and middle right in the picture, as the bird stands in an 's' shaped creek. The bird is grey with a pink-grey neck at the sides, a darker blue patch at the shoulder and a similar colour patch over the eye to the back of the head. The left eye has a yellow ring round the black pupil, then white under the eye and bill. Plumes hang from the neck. It is looking slightly to the left of the camera and showing the front of its neck, which has a light band crossed with darker diagonals, looking like a zipper or herringbone pattern to me.

A male Mallard, preening, and standing in shallow water. The duck has its head turned round to its left so its brown neck is to the left of the frame. Lighter underparts and orange leg and foot visible. Its head is iridescnet green, with a white ring seperating it from the brown neck. Dark rear end. Green refelctions in the top of the frame and duck reflections in the foreground.

I don't think I've ever seen a more floofed Snowy Egret! #Birds #Photography #BirdPhotography #FujiFilm #XT5. It was a bit breezy today. I'll post one of it shaking this out later.

A Snowy Egret, all feathers puffed out, or floofed. A small-medium sized white bird with long dark legs, with yellow backs, just seeing a flash of the yellow on its right leg. It also has a long dark bill and yellow between the eyes and around he dark pupils. This one is standing in long grass, angled and looking to the left of the camera. Overcast, no strong shadows.
