Question
I've noticed that in Te Reo Māori, a macron is put on the first vowel in "Maori" and "whanau" to indicate it's a plural.

So, is that a correct interpretation?
And does that mean that if I wanted to refer to both Te Ika a Māui and Te Wai Pounamu, the 2 islands, I could say the mōtu? Motu being one island, right?

Once again I find myself thinking it would be cool to have a dedicated Mastodon instance which catered to Kiwi (or Australasian) activist orgs and socially responsible not-for-profits. I'm no techo but I'd be willing to contribute to this in other ways (promotion, moderation, money).

I am frustrated by the reliance these orgs often have on Xitter/FB/Insta/Bluesky but I think it would be easier to temp them over here if there was a more obvious place to go.

A sorely overdue hike back into the Tararua ranges, that I am also happily sore from (no leg day for a bit).

We came across a thriving grove of Nīkau, the world's most southern palm. I managed to grab a good snap of one overlooking the river, whose curves we traced.

Will head back deeper into Autumn for an overnighter.
