In the past, US #cybersecurity agencies would counter such campaigns by calling them out to raise public awareness. The #FBI would warn #socialmedia companies of inauthentic accounts so they could be removed. And, at times, #US #CyberCommand would try to take #Russia #TrollFarms that create #disinformation offline, at least temporarily.
But #Trump fired Gen Timothy D. Haugh, a 4-star general w/years of experience countering Russian online #propaganda, from his posts leading #CyberCom & the #NSA.

According to @BleepingComputer, there have been two different reports since Friday. One about Cyber Command and one about CISA.

Here is a statement from Cyber Command to Bleeping. Computer:

"Due to operational security concerns, we do not comment nor discuss cyber intelligence, plans, or operations. There is no greater priority to Secretary Hegseth than the safety of the Warfighter in all operations, to include the cyber domain."

The saddest part about all this is that Trump really wants to be Putin's friend and ally. He doesn't understand that he will be completely and utterly outmaneuvered by Putin. There is absolutely nothing, zip, zilch, zero, nada that Putin hasn't seen coming (or instructed) when it comes to Trump.
