Question for you #webdev peeps:
I've made a site and it's totally in dark mode. How I like it 
But some people mentioned that I should offer a light mode toggle because "some people are not used to dark mode and won't like it".
Do you think that's valid?
(Someone else said that there's also potentially an accessibility issue with dark mode - is that true?)

#Smithereen now stores the followers/following/friends counts separately from actual lists, and so can now do this Mastodon-like thing.
Two things:
1. Has anyone written a thread composer app for Mastodon? I need that. I don't write a lot of threads, but when I do I really miss old Twitter's thread composer.
2. I have to admit that I am very popular with the bots of Mastodon. It seems like a lot of my well hashtagged posts get immediate pings but they're always from robots. Is that happening to everybody?

@evan This is where being able to have a basic plug-in backbone could be beneficial for the Mastodon software. Devs could develop spam plug-in, instance specific monetization, Online Safety Act plugins meeting requirements for specific location, etc. without messing with the Mastodon's core code #Mastodon #MastoDev

I've been wondering for a while: People seem to often ask questions about "how do I do X with mastodon.py" or "why isn't my code, that uses mastodon.py, working" into the void, or in some general forum. I don't usually see those questions, so even if I could easily help, I have no means to. It'd be great if people tagged me into these types of questions, or if there was a better venue for it, maybe. I've been thinking like sure just open a github issue, even if it's just a "how do I do X" type question, but I think most people are hesitant to?
What would be the ideal way to improve this situation somewhat? Any suggestions welcome, but of course especially if you've been in that situation. #mastodonpy #mastodev

Also, "Sam the designer" is a real character in the world of Mastodon.
There are references to them dotted around the GitHub for Mastodon, but I'm not convinced they are a real person.
At the end of one the issues I filed, I asked for "Sam the designer" to release the design files to the world so we can all contribute - but there's no response.

On the bus I looked around and I could see other people staring down at their phone using Instagram, Twitter, and Bluesky.
I knew they were using these apps because THEY HAVE THE LOGO IN THE APP -- then I look down at my screen, at the anonymous Mastodon app.
Excuse me, John Mastodon, but how are people who read over my shoulder meant to know what this cool new platform is?!
Maybe "Sam the designer" can fix it.
the app just received a judgy, little App Icon, pagination, and you can see comments made by users now.
A couple of things.
1. If you enable this and find a post that doesn't render correctly then **please file a bug that includes a link to the post and a screenshot**.
2. There's no UI for adding Markdown to the posts you create yet. That's coming, maybe in the next release, maybe not.
3. This only acts on the contents of posts. Content warnings, image captions, and account details are not converted. Not sure if they should be or not yet.
#Pachli 2.10.1 has been released. This fixes the issue that could cause Pachli to crash if you had ever signed in with multiple accounts, ensures "Show anyway" works on filtered posts in all timelines, and shows all available languages in Android's system settings.
